DCSHOECO:
DC Shoe Co is an American footwear company based in Vista,
California. Specializing in the development of one of the most
recognizable brands in skateboarding footwear and apparel, the
company also manufactures shoes, clothes and accessories for other
extreme sports, including snowboarding, motocross, BMX, and surfing.
By close collaboration with a team of top skaters, DCSHOECO has been
able to consistently produce technically superior skate shoes for
more than a decade, and as such the DC brand of pro model skate
shoes are well respected by pro skaters, and the skateboarding
community in general. The company also has a huge collection of
styles that are readily available online and in the malls, catering
to non-hardcore skaters and the average consumer. And owing to the
brand's excellence in aesthetic design and styling, these DC
sneakers have also been well received.
DC Shoe Company History In Brief:
Founded in 1993 by Ken Block and Damon Way, the company,
incorporated as Circle Distribution, initially sold T-shirts and
jeans. The DC brand shoes were only introduced a year later. In
1998, Circle Distribution was renamed DC Shoes, Inc. after the
phenomenal success of its line of DC skate shoes in the mid 1990's.
In 2004, DCSHOECO was acquired by Quiksilver, and became a wholly
owned subsidiary of the surf wear giant.
How Did DC Shoe Get Its Name?
The "D" came from Danny Way, professional
skateboarder and brother of co-founder Damon, and the "C"
another professional skater, Colin McKay.
